 This quote means that if you know an action that you are about to take isn't right then do not do it. Do whats right. Choose the right thing. Also if you heard a rumor or something but you aren't sure if its true then do not say it. Don't spread rumors. Its a bad thing to do. An example of this quote is a person saying something bad about another person. If you don't know that person well then do not say anything bad about them. Get to know them. And even if the rumors are true do not spread them because it isn't nice. My mom always tells me ''if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it at all."
